The Idea of Innovation Communication

Innovation communication is linked to leadership more than ever; not only to thought leadership or new leadership to disseminate visionary ideas or empower employees to (co)create a company’s future. Innovation communication offers innovators and transformative leaders a chance to build innovative, meaningful and interconnected (new) businesses and create more powerful organizations, valuable networks and innovation ecosystems.

My signature: Innovation communication is typically a communication field in corporate communication / PR to build trust in innovation and address stakeholder groups throughout an innovation process to systematically disseminate and communicate the new. From a strategic management view it is more. From my perspective is a (dynamic) capability to add value to a business and a new competence for leaders to envision the future, lead aspirational dialogues and invest in communication spaces for new realities, perspectives and growth. Innovation communicators focus on different methods and tools (e.g. storytelling, personalization, law of diffusion) and on interdisciplinary approaches to link innovation (growth) and communication (connection) [see the I-COM View for leadership development]. And beyond all of that, it is a leadership journey to become a great innovation communicator...
